HOLD_XYZ Discussion and Demo

  • Integrated Motion Studio - Emily Carr University of Art + Design 520 East 1st Avenue Vancouver, BC, V5T 1E1 Canada (map)

HOLD_xyz is a dance and XR research project led by artists Nancy Lee, Ian Nakamoto, and Ralph Escamillan.

FREE EVENT - REGISTRATION REQUIRED

The presentation will offer a concise overview of figurative sculpture and sculptural theory, delve into the cultural significance of posing within ballroom culture, and explore the art of storytelling within XR technology. This exploration is made possible through the integration of these conceptual frameworks and tools, facilitated by technologies like 3D scanning and 3D printing, which will be demonstrated during the talk.

HOLD_xyz started as a FakeKnot learning series to facilitate community seminars and artistic exchanges between artists Nancy Lee, Ian Nakamoto, Emmalena Fredriksson and Ralph Escamillan. The intention was to build meaningful discourse on how we should approach dance and technological integration, and gain historic and political insights into our choreographic habits.

This event is free to attend. Registration is required as space is limited.
